Mrs. Hatsue Harvey, 91, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Hatsue was born in Tokyo, Japan, on March 30, 1930, the daughter of Tomizo and Tone (Suzuki) Okuyama and received her education there. On November 13, 1956, Hatsue was united in marriage with Claude P. Harvey, Jr., a loving and devoted union of 49 years, until Claude’s death in 2005. Hatsue enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling and shopping for authentic Asian cuisine. She also enjoyed attending Theatre events and concerts and especially loved spending time with her beloved family. Mrs. Harvey is survived by her three children, Robert J. and Kathy Harvey of New Hartford, Susan Khan of Utica and John F. Harvey of Utica; four cherished grandchildren, Bryan Harvey and his wife, Kara, Kayla McNeil and her husband, Derek, Kristopher Harvey and his wife, Brittany and Nabil Khan; six adored great grandchildren, Noah Harvey, Addelyn Harvey, Ryland Harvey, Aubree McNeil, Paisley McNeil and Peyton Harvey; two sisters, Mitsue Fukumoto and Toshie Ishiyama both of Japan; three nieces, Niwaka Matsushita, Yumiko Ishiyama and Kumiko Ishiyama; a great niece, Amiko Matsushita and dear friends, Teime Johnson, Joyce Johnson and Yoshiko Davis. She was predeceased by her brother, Hideo Okuyama. Visitation for family and friends is Saturday morning, November 20, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, followed by a prayer and time to share stories of Hatsue, at 11:00 a.m., at the conclusion of visitation. Her interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.
