Obituary of Barbara B. Barry
Barbara B. Barry, 84, passed away on January 28, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica, surrounded by your loving family.
Barbara was born in Utica, on September 22, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Schmidt) Barry. She was raised and educated in Utica. She was a graduate of UFA, then attended MVCC and received a certificate in accounting. In 1966 she united in marriage to Martin W. Barry in Utica, a blessed union of 52 years. Mr. Barry predeceased her on November 17, 2018. Barbara was employed for 25 years as the Benefits Coordinator for the City of Utica. Barbara volunteered at the Stanley Performing Arts, Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society, Drums along the Mohawk and Munson Williams Proctor Institute. She was an avid antiques collector and loved animals especially cats.
Mrs. Barry is survived by her children Kathleen (Ronald) Johnson, Martin William (Gerri) Barry, Wendy (Everett) Hopper, Lynn (John) Austin, Diane (Dennis) Erlewine, Michele (Joseph) Teti, James Barry several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Robert Barry and a sister Patricia Coleman.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Martin in the spring of 2023. Then will also be a celebration of Barbara’s life at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CT-ICU), Fourth Floor, especially Chris, Night shift RN and Jake, Day shift RN, for their care and compassion shown to Barbara and her family.
