Obituary of Richard W. Maynard
Mr. Richard W. Maynard, 88, of Deerfield, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford after a brief illness. Richard passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side.
Richard was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 24, 1934, the son of George and Emma (Hassey) Maynard. His family moved to Utica when he was a young boy, where they raised Richard & his two siblings. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. After graduation, Richard proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. On October 24, 1959, Richard was united in marriage with Dolores N. Edee at St. Peter’s Church in North Utica, a loving and devoted union of 60 years, until Dolores’ death in 2020. Proudly following his father’s footsteps, he was employed with Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Frankfort for 42 years. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the Ilion Fish and Game Club and a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in North Utica. Richard had a true love for the outdoors, specifically traveling throughout all of the Adirondacks and the St. Lawrence River. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends reminiscing about his camping, hiking, and fishing trips that he took with his wife and son.
Mr. Maynard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Jennifer Maynard of Deerfield; Two cherished grandsons, Aaron Maynard of Deerfield and Brandon Penree of FL; one sister, Carol Barney of Schuyler and one brother, George Maynard of Webster, NY, as well as several nieces; Terri and Dave Gorski of Springville, NY, Debbie and Rick Sanza of Webster, NY, and Karen Maynard of Webster, NY. Richard also leaves behind a close family friend, Troy Riddell and family of Ilion. Besides his beloved wife, Dolores, Richard was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Adeline Maynard, brother-in-law, Ed Barney and brother-in-law, George Edee.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Richard’s memorial graveside service on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Memorial Park, 3620 State Route 12, Clinton, NY.
