Obituary of Louise E. Skrzek

     Miss Louise E. Skrzek, 90, a resident of the Aspen House at Sitrin Health Care Center in New Hartford, formerly of N. Utica, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

     Louise was born in New York Mills, on July 10, 1933, the daughter of Walter and Martha (Collins) Skrzek and received her education at St. Patrick’s school in Utica. At one time, Louise was employed with Woolworth’s Department Store and for many years, with Faxton Hospital in Utica, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, doing word find puzzles and loved watching ME TV and Lawrence Welk. Louise was a devoted parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in N. Utica.

     Miss Skrzek is survived by her loving sister, Joan Cavanaugh of N. Utica; five cherished nephews and nieces, her Godson, James W. Cavanaugh of Liverpool, NY, Michael Cavanaugh and his fiancée Donna Caruso of N. Utica, Steven and Judy Cavanaugh of Garden City, SC, Noreen and Ken Mootz of Garden City, SC and Kathy and Tim Barcomb of N. Utica; 16 adored great nieces and nephews, Desi, Angel, Michelle, Christopher, Shayne, Amanda, Amy, Cory, Sean, Zachary, Cara, Jamie, Jennifer, Erika, Kristyn and Sara, as well as numerous great great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Martha, brother-in-law, James F. Cavanaugh and niece, Esther Cavanaugh.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Louise’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica. She will be laid to rest with her parents in St. Stanislaus and St. Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday, November 15th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.

     Louise’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Aspen House at Sitrin Health Care Center for the loving care and compassion you provided.
